Kangra, June 8
The Kangra airport will get wi-fi and prepaid taxi facilities for passengers within three months. Besides, a snack bar will be set up at the airport lounge this week.
Kangra Airport director Parwinder Tiwari today said the Airport Authority of India (AAI) will equip the Kangra Airport with Doppler Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range (DVOR), which is distance measuring equipment (DME), to avoid cancellation and diversions of flights by 50 per cent.
The DVOR would be installed at a cost of Rs 1.87 crore, Tiwari added. He said after its installation, the runway visibility would improve to 2,400 metres.
He said the airport would have all such facilities by December 31.
He said the government had assured to provide 153 acres for the proposed expansion of the airstrip.— OC
