With a nip in the air and a drop in temperature, health experts have advised city residents to be more careful to keep diseases at bay.

Notably, with the maximum temperature hovering around 25 degree Celsius and the minimum at 9 degree Celsius, residents complaining of cough and cold have already started reaching city hospitals.

City-based Dr Harkirat Singh said people suffering from cough and cold, especially children, have started arriving at hospitals. “Cough and cold spreads through water droplets. Whenever you are suffering from cough and cold, cover your mouth with a handkerchief so that water droplets do not cause infection to others,” he said.

Adding further, he said hygiene played an important role in keeping diseases at bay. “People suffering from cough and cold should make sure that they wash their hands regularly so that infection is not passed to others. Washing hands plays a very important role in keeping infections at bay,” he added.

Paediatrician Sandeep Sharma said parents should not delay in taking their children to the doctor if they suffer from cough and cold.

In addition to this, cases of burning sensation, watering and in eyes are on the rise due to air pollution. These cases are being reported in higher number from urban areas.
