Mussoorie, February 24
Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi, along with his supporters, today staged a protest at the office of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) in Dehradun, demanding completion of the sanctioned development projects in his constituency.
The protesters raised slogans against the MDDA officials. Joshi alleged that the MDDA was delaying the projects at the behest of the state Congress leaders, depriving his constituency of development.
Joshi said it was due to his efforts that the Chief Minister, the Urban Development Minister and the Chief Secretary had sanctioned several development projects in the past couple of years in his constituency. But now the MDDA, in collusion with some Congress leaders, was delaying the projects as they (Congress) feared his (Joshi’s) popularity among voters.
“The MDDA floated tenders for around 95 development projects but a day before the opening of the tenders, it removed 22 projects that were for the Mussoorie Assembly constituency and gave the green light to other projects. The MDDA appears to be working as a newly formed cell of the Congress,” said the MLA.
He presented a memorandum to MDDA secretary PC Dumka stating that the MDDA should stop hindering development projects approved by the government. Dumka, while refuting the allegations, reportedly assured the MLA that the matter would be looked into and development works would be executed without bias.
BJP Mahanagar Adhyaksh Umesh Agarwal, Mandal Adhyaksh Poonam Nautiyal among others were present on the occasion.
