Punjab’s maiden Post Shoppe comes up in city

The first Post Shoppe of the state was inaugurated at the Head Post Office here today. Products, including philately collection, postage stamps, first day covers, mugs and frames based on the theme of postage stamps, stationery items, envelopes, parcel boxes are available. Even t-shirts, phulkaris, mugs, decorative pieces, flower vases and other products are on offer for shopping at the Post Shoppe.

SSPO City Division Suresh Sharma said this is one-of-its-kind Post Shoppe in Northern India. “Even though Post Shoppes are there in Bangalore, but do not match the product range we have here,” he said.

Parcel packing facility is also available at the Post Shoppe. “So one can purchase an item and parcel it right away. Earlier, people had to go out and get the articles checked for custom clearance and later got it packed again. But now, these can be packed and can be easily dispatched here at one spot only,” The SSPO added.

Books have also been kept on sale. An official at the post office said now books related to competitive examinations could also be purchased from the Post Shoppe any time.

The postal bureau has also been shifted to the Post Shoppe. “The collection of postage stamp, first day covers and special editions of the postage stamps will be on display and for shopping as well,” said another official.

“Earlier there was no place to display these postage stamps,” he said.

My stamp facility has also been shifted within the Post Shoppe where one can get usable postage stamps with one’s own picture.

“Starting of the Post Shoppe has completely changed the atmosphere of the Head Post Office. It is lively now,” said a postal assistant at the post office.
