The chancellor of RIMT University, Hukam Chand Basal, released a book ‘Ranjhan To Na Mod’ written by Punjabi poet Sadhu Singh Panag on Thursday.
Panag already has contributed three poetry books ‘Aas Parutte Nyn’, ‘Chanan De Beez’ and ‘Surin Paroeean Dhadkna’ to the Punjabi literature.
While releasing the book, Bansal said, poetry was directly related to the singing but these days what most of the singers were singing was not up to the mark and dismaying audience.
He said literature was known as the mirror of the society but nowadays the singers do not promote Punjabi culture in their songs.
Talking about Panag’s book, Bansal said reading this book was a cheerful experience because it presented the culture of Punjab along with sufism. He said, “We would have to save these colours in our literature.”
Writer Panag said that his only attempt was to present good poetry to the readers.
Critic Sardool Singh Aujla said while on one hand, Panag’s poetry became an evidence of the nature of Punjabis of singing and dancing, on the other hand, it tried to sensitise the readers in shape of a cry of a daughter regarding killing a girl child in the womb.
