Water Resources Department secretary Shikhar Aggarwal and other officials inspected the ongoing work at Sulemanki, Netewala and Burajwala headworks. He discussed the progress with Superintending Engineer Arun Sidana, Executive Engineer Pradeep Rustagi, SDM Yashpal Ahuja and Zila Parishad CEO Rachna Bhatia. They also examined the lining of water courses that had been taken up first time in the border region to check wastage due to seepage.

Aggarwal asked irrigation officials to get all repair and construction work completed within the extended period for the closure of canals. “Speed should not kill the quality of work. If work is completed within the prescribed period, we can prevent escalation in cost of work,” he added.
