Rally deplores drug abuse in Kaithal

As part of a campaign launched by the Keorak panchayat to get the village free from drug menace in 2017-18, SP Sumer Partap Singh flagged off a rally to spread the message of drug-free Keorak today.
In his address, the SP said that it was a matter of concern that the youth were taking recourse to drugs. He said drug addiction was a big challenge for society and assured all possible help to check it.
He said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and DGP BS Sandhu had shown their resolve to eradicate the menace and every step would be taken to keep the youth away from drug abuse.
Sarpanch Balkar Arya said the village panchayat, Arya Samaj and youth had resolved to eradicate the menace from the village and this dream would materialise soon.
He said today’s rally was organised to achieve this objective. He said about 70 persons below the age of 30 years had been de-addicted during the past about two years.
He said others would be identified and efforts would be made to de-addict them so that they could join the mainstream and leave drugs.
He said the panchayat had succeeded in shifting the liquor vend from the village. He said 28 unauthorised sale points had been functional in the village, of which 18 were closed.
He added that the remaining sale points would be closed soon. Raj Pal Tanwar, chairman of the Kaithal market committee, was present.
