Ramoowalia’s daughter quits planning board

Mohali, November 3

Three days after Balwant Ramoowalia quit the SAD, his daughter Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia today resigned from the post of chairperson of District Planning Committee, Mohali.

Her resignation has been accepted by the CM, said a senior state government official. Sources said Amanjot handed over her resignation to SAD secretary Dr Daljit Cheema at his residence around 8.30 am today.

In her resignation, she said due to unavoidable circumstances, one needed to take decisions. She also requested the Chief Minister to accept her resignation immediately.

Amanjot had replaced her close relative Harbhajan Mann, noted Punjabi singer, from the post and joined office on January 10, 2014.

Balwant Ramoowalia, who had been Mohali halqa in charge of SAD since January 2012, quit the party on October 31 to become a Cabinet Minister in Akhilesh Yadav’s government in UP. — TNS
