Chief Minister Harish Rawat said, “It is a matter of proud for everyone that a large number of youths from the state serve in defence forces.” He said brave soldiers of Uttarakhand had proved their worth in post-Independence wars. He was expressing his views at a function to unveil the statue of martyr Lance Naik Jagdamba Prasad Badoni at Tuntawala here today.
He said residents feel proud of brave soldiers of Uttarakhand. He added the state government was always with the relatives of those residents who had laid down their lives for motherland. Recalling the efforts of soldiers, the Chief Minister said brave soldiers from the state were sacrificing their lives every month while safeguarding our nation’s frontiers.
He said the state government had extended its full support to the Central government and brave soldiers of Uttarakhand to fight against terrorism. He instructed Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority officials to rename the Tuntawala road after martyr Lance Naik Jagdamba Prasad Badoni and to rename a crossing or flyover after martyr Pramod Sajjwan.
Forest Minister Dinesh Agarwal said martyr Lance Naik Badoni was born in Tehri Garhwal district. He added the martyr Lance Naik was posted in Delta Company of 11 Garhwal Rifles and laid down his life in Sri Lanka in 1987. — TNS
