Recognition to ‘Kulluvi Nati’ a matter of pride: CM

Lauding the efforts of the Kullu district administration for conducting a mega cultural event of ‘Kullvi Nati’ during international Dasehra Festival last year, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that after gaining entry into the Guinness Book of Records getting worldwide recognition, the rich culture and high traditions of the state, especially this folk dance, would scale new heights.

Virbhadra said it was a matter of pride for the people of the state, especially the people of Kullu district, and congratulated the participants who made it possible.

“I myself witnessed the event, organised under the aegis of ‘Beti Hai Anmol’, which effectively spread mass awareness on saving the girl child”, he said adding that Himachal was known for its rich culture and traditions and the state government was committed to promoting and preserving it at all costs. He also exhorted the people to maintain state’s distinct cultural traditions which were its real identity.

The ‘Nati’ performance by 9,892 dancers on October 26, 2015 has been recognised in the Guinness Book of Record. In 2014 the same event made its entry into the Limca Book of Records with 8450 dancers performing the ‘Kullvi Nati’.

Meanwhile, The Kullu People Association has hailed the inclusion of Kulluvi Nati in the Guinness Book of World Records.

In a statement issued today, president of the association Dr M P Sood and general secretary Sanjeev Sharma said the achievement had done the state proud, bringing Kullu on the int-ernational map.

They appreciated the efforts of the Kullu administration and congratulated it on the successful conduct of the event organised under the banner of ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ to create mass awareness on saving the girl child.

They said women participants deserved appreciation. Sood said the event provided an opportunity to the artistes to exhibit the rich culture and unique traditions of the state.
