Karnal, July 21
The completion of the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC) may be delayed by a year as the approval for a new tender is yet to be cleared.
Sources said if they get the approval now it will still take a year for the completion of the project whose deadline was July, 2015.
The construction of the college, auditorium, residential and hostel blocks is incomplete since the contract of Supreme Infrastructure Company was terminated by the Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation (HSCC), the company responsible for the construction of the college, in February due to the former’s lethargic approach.
Since then, no new company has been finalised so far resulting in further delay in the project. This will also mean a delay in approval to the college by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
The HSCC had decided to hire three companies instead of one to complete the project.
