JKPCC senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma has expressed concern over the non-regularisation of daily wagers and need-based workers. He alleged that the government had been harassing them by turning a blind eye to urgent needs.

He said due to the attitude of the government, they had failed to pay attention to casual employees of the Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and the ITI-trained, as a result of which the common man had been facing hardship due to erratic water supply.

Sharma said summer was approaching and in case their grievances were not addressed, suffering of people would worsen.

“The government should talk to their leaders for redressal of their grievances. The government should make commitments to resolve the issue by regularising the 62,000 affected workers either in one go or in a phased manner,” he said.

“The groundwork for resolving the issue had been carried out by the previous Congress-NC government. By making it the criteria, the present dispensation can resolve the issue without any further delay,” he added.

He said the BJP had been projecting itself as the so-called champion of people of the Jammu region, but had compromised on their ideology.

He alleged that the BJP had surrendered before the PDP for all purposes and was incompetent to redress grievances of people of the Jammu region without a green signal from the PDP.

Sharma claimed that Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers in the state were being harassed by the PDP-BJP government through screening after having been selected in the past purely on the basis of merit.
