Haridwar, September 4
The Aarakshan Virodhi Party (AVP) will make ‘abolishment of reservation’ its main poll issue for the Assembly poll in UP and Uttarakhand.
The party’s state executive committee held a meeting here today and announced its first list of 40 candidates for the UP elections. Discussions were also held on the probable names for the first list of candidates in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand in-charge Aadesh Kumar said reservation in government services and other schemes was hurting the fundamental-secular-republic structure of the country. He pointed that initially the reservation was fixed for 10 years. Seven decades have passed and instead of curtailing the reservation cover it has been increased manifold, he said.—TNS
