Residents of Civil City, Subash Nagar led by Baba Deep Singh Welfare Society and Ganpati Utsav Committee burnt an effigy of district president of the BJP Praveen Bansal in protest for supporting RSS activists who allegedly damage the park developed by residents.
Vinod Sharma, president, Baba Deep Singh Welfare Society said, “As per the rules of Municipal Corporation no one can organise any social and public function in the parks. We have developed the park with contribution of residents. The RSS started organising ‘shakha’ in the park. They damaged the grass bed and garden. We are not against RSS or shakha but the park is for the residents not for any such activity”.
Vinod Sharma alleged that Parveen Bansal threatened him on phone. Another resident of area alleged that they have filed complaint at police station but police did not take action against them.
Parveen Bansal said, “We will not tolerate anything against the RSS. No one can oppose activity of RSS. Parks and gardens are for everyone as these are not personal properties of any individual. One can play, exercise and perform Yoga or any other activity. Hundreds of the shakhas are going on in parks in city.”
