Residents of the CPWD flats in Sector 46 continue to face water shortage. Residents complained that they were getting low pressure of water supply daily.

Residents staying on upper floors have to get up early to get water from the ground floor.

Jai Bhagwan, a resident of the area, said: “The low pressure and lack of clean water supply affects their daily household chores during summers. The authorities should ensure that they get proper supply of safe water as promised to them.”

Ashok Kumar, another resident, said: “They get water supply from 5 am to 7 am and 7.30 pm to 8 pm. But the pressure of water is very low and it does not reach water tanks kept at the roof of the houses.”

Arihant, a resident, said: “The problem arises in March and stretches up to the mid of August every year. They have to store water and then the same has to be used for cooking and washing also.”

Jasvinder Singh, Assistant Engineer, CPWD, Sector 46, said: “Our duty is to pump the water which we receive from the Chandigarh Administration and we are doing the job but if the supply is less, then we cannot do anything. We had applied for a new water connection and the work of the new pipeline is in progress. The problem would be resolved as soon as possible.”

Heera Negi, area councillor, Sector 46, said: “I know about the problem of low pressure in water supply being faced by people. A new pipeline is being installed and it will surely functional within a month. It will solve the water crisis in the area.”
