Reward announced for info on Mullanpur’s attackers
Ludhiana, December 27
The District Congress Committee (DCC) (Ludhiana Rural) has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to the informant who will reveal any information about the attack on Congress leader Major Singh Mullanpur. Mullanpur was attacked on December 1 with sharp weapons in the Dakha Assembly constituency. The DCC (Ludhiana Rural) chief, Gurdev Singh Lapran, had earlier accused Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali of orchestrating the attack.
Today, Lapran said the police had not made any headway in the case. He accused the ruling dispensation of creating roadblocks in the investigation. He alleged that the ‘murderous attack’ on Mullanpur was a well-planned conspiracy to browbeat the party leaders.
Ayali, while dismissing these allegations as baseless and without any substance, said: “Our focus is on development. Our fight is political, not personal. We are so busy in development works that there is no time for indulging in petty politics. We’re walking the path of truth. They (the Congress leaders) can get the investigation done (in the case) from whosoever they want,” said Ayali. — TNS
