JAMMU, June 27
A 61-year-old man died after he fell off a Katra-bound train in Bajalta area of Jammu during wee hours today.
The deceased, Ashok Chawla, was a resident of Rohtak in Haryana.
“He, along with his wife, son, daughter and son-in-law, was travelling in Shiv Shakti Express. The family was going to Vaishno Devi to pay obeisance,” a police officer said.
“The train left Jammu around 3.20 AM for Katra. When it was passing through Bajalta area, Chawla got up to go to the toilet. It appears that being drowsy, he misconstrued the exit door of the bogey as toilet door and fell off the moving train. He died on the spot,” the officer added.
Later, the body of the deceased was shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) and a case was registered by the Railway Police.
