The CBI probing the theft case of antique bell stolen from Indian Institute of Advance Studies (IIAS), Shimla, today announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for providing information about the stolen bell.
The rare bell was stolen from the premises of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS) here on April 22, 2010. The Himachal High Court in October 2015 ordered the CBI probe the antique bell theft case and asked the CBI “to launch a nationwide hunt to locate the stolen property”.
The antique bell reportedly made of ashtadhatu (eight metals) was gifted by the royal family of Nepal to the then Viceroy of India in 1903 and had been kept on display in the verandah of the main entrance of Indian Institute of Advance Studies.
