Amidst uproar over charging Rs 500 for making identity card (ID), Sr Silvi SH, Principal Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, has clarified that the money was charged not merely for making identity cards of students.
The principal explained the money taken was in lieu of other formalities and making identity card was part of it. “It also includes assignments, syllabus, parents’ identity cards, students’ identity cards and photos,” said the principal.
A number of parents had complained that the school has charged a heavy amount of money for making the ID cards.
The parents said the money was taken on March 27 when parents visited the school to submit the old books of their children. The parents alleged that the school has pocketed Rs 10 lakh if Rs 500 was charged from nearly 2000 students studying in the school.
The school coordinator, Shivani, has quashed the allegations and claimed that someone with mala fide intentions was spending such rumors. Today the parents said receipts were not issued by the school in lieu of receiving the payment.
“We are already burdened under heavy school fee and such expenses affect our monthly budget,” said a woman whose son studies in the school.
