Rs1,100 for persons with 70 pc disability

The government is providing Rs 1,100 as social security pension to persons with 70 per cent or above disability. This was stated by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at the fourth meeting of the people with special abilities today.

Assuring the beneficiaries that the demand of enhancing the pension would be considered sympathetically, he said the government was providing a sum of Rs 40,000 to those marrying persons having more than 70 per cent disability.

The Chief Minister said at present, 3 per cent reservation was being provided to the differently abled in government jobs.

Loan up to Rs 25 lakh was also being provided to such persons, he added. It was decided in the meeting that the backlog would be cleared. So far, as many as 1,683 posts of differently abled persons has been filled.

At present, 78,329 persons are being provided free travel facility on HRTC buses and if there is a visually impaired person, one attendant can travel free with him/her. As many as 11,217 visually impaired persons are availing the facility.

One attendant is allowed to travel with patients referred to AIIMS and the PGIMER, Chandigarh.
