RSS men celebrate foundation day

Activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today took out a procession in the city to mark its 90th foundation day. They also carried out an annual Vijaya Dashami route march.

Two processions were culminated at Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the banks of the Tawi. One procession was started from General Zorawar Singh Park at Trikuta Nagar while another was began from Rajput School Ground. 

At Trikuta Nagar, RSS state general secretary Parshotam Deedchi addressed the activists while at Rajput School, Brig (Retd) Suchait Singh motivated the cadre.

Earlier, the RSS cadre worshipped weapons as part of their tradition to mark Vijaya Dashami.

Parshotam Deedchi, general secretary, J&K RSS, said today’s function was part of the RSS’ annual celebrations.  It is not a new thing in the region as since 1925, the RSS has been organising similar processions on mark its foundation day, he said. 

He said people irrespective of their caste, creed, colour, religions and party affiliations participated in the Vijaya Dashami celebrations of the RSS. 

“It is a ritual that we worship weapons on Dasehra which symbolises the victory of good over evil,” he said.
