Dehradun, December 8

Agitated employees of the regional transport office held a demonstration on the office premises here today. The protesters asked the state government to cancel the proposal to register new vehicles through private agencies.

The protesting employees under the banner of the Uttarakhand Transport Ministerial Employees Association gathered at the RTO and raised slogans against the government.

They lamented that the government had abolished 4,000 posts of driver. The government had drafted a plan to abolish posts Class-IV employees in different departments. The registration of new vehicles through private operators would be render security in the state vulnerable.
