Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda (in pic) has demanded that work on the SYL canal be started in Punjab as per the Supreme Court verdict in this regard.
“If the Parkash Singh Badal government in Punjab continues to defy the orders of the apex court, the Centre should dismiss the government,” Hooda said here today. He said he welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision and it should be implemented without any delay.
“The least the BJP can do is to sever its ties with the SAD to show that it honours the apex court of the country,” he asserted.
He also warned of stopping electricity supply as well as vehicular movement to Punjab if Haryana did not get its due share of water. He stated that the Punjab Government’s stance regarding the matter violated the federal structure of the country. TNS
