SAI opens training centre at Jammu

Jammu, May 18
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) today opened its sports training centre here. The centre has been established in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
The sanction for the training centre was accorded by the governing council of the Sports Authority of India after it was approached by the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
Earlier, a similar centre was set up Srinagar.
To start with, residential hostel is being opened for the disciplines of basketball and handball. Subsequently the facilities would be extended to other disciplines, including wushu.
Sanjeev Sharma, Director, Northern SAI Centre, Chandigarh, today arrived in Jammu for formal announcement of the opening of centre.
He hoped that the initiative would go a long way in exploring the sports potential among the budding J&K youth.
