Saint have expressed resentment over a recent statement by All-India Muslim Personal Law Board member Abdul Rahim Qureshi in a book that the birth place of Lord Rama was somewhere in Pakistan.
In a meeting held at Hare Ram Ashram here today, spiritual ideologue of the Hare Ram Ashram Maha Mandaleshwar Kapil Muni Maharaj remarked that the false claims about the birthplace of Lord Rama had directly hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Indians.
He said Ayodhya was the birthplace of Lord Rama, who was King Dashratha’s son.
“Saints will not tolerate such false statements. They don’t augur well for society. It’s quite surprising that the whole country is embroiled in a so called intolerance debate, but casting apprehensions on the birthplace of Lord Rama is not being taken seriously by political classes and the media,” he said.
Swami Achityunand Maharaj said such misleading statements hurt the sentiments of billions of devotees, who worshipped Lord Rama and paid obeisance at his birthplace in Ayodhya.
Swami Rishi Ram Krishan Maharaj said for thousands of years Hindus had been worshipping Ayodhya as the birthplace of Lord Rama and such propaganda to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus won’t be tolerated.
Among other saints who have opposed the controversial statements of the book are Mahant Mohan Das, Mahant Bhagar Ram, Mahant Balwant Singh, Bhagwat Swarup, Dr Swami Shyam Sunder Das Shastri, Swami Rishiswaranand, Baba Hatyogi, Swami Kailashanand Brahmachari, Mahant Prem Das, Mahant Sukhdev Muni, Mohan Das Ramayani, Swami Shivanand, Swami Uma Bharati, Rajay Singh, Mahendra Singh, Mahadev Mahara and Ravindra Puri.
