Samba district shares boundaries with Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua districts. It has three historical forts - namely Mohargarh fort, Dhergarh fort and Bhupnergarh fort.

Puran Chand, sarpanch of Mohargarh village, told The Tribune, “The district administration had conducted a survey about three years ago with a team of the Archaeological Department, but due to tough terrain and bad road connectivity, the authorities concerned hardly visited the fort.”

“The work for the preservation of the gate of the Mohargarh fort was done by the Tourist Department under the supervision of the Archaeological Department of the state,” said Peerzada Asharaf, Deputy Director, Archaeological Department. He said if the government granted funds they would be able to start the restoration work.
