Panaji, February 4
Dehradun resident Sameer Sardana, who was arrested by the Goa Police on Monday night while moving around suspiciously at the Vasco railway station, had been gathering information about bomb blasts which had taken place across the country in the past, a senior police official said today. However, the police have not been able to link him to any terror plot, according to the investigations till now.
“The police have managed to decode emails and documents of Sameer and found that he was collecting information about past bomb blasts in the country,” a senior ATS official told PTI.
The ATS and the Intelligence Bureau, which have been interrogating the 44-year-old chartered accountant and son of a retired Army officer, cracked the password of his laptop that he had refused to divulge during questioning. “We have not been able to link him to any terror plot in our investigations till now,” the official said. The investigations have also revealed that he is a Hindu by birth but has been practising Islam.—PTI
