After the creation of Charki Dadri as 22nd district of the state, the Zila Banao Sangharsh Samiti have launched a campaign to demand district status for Hansi town. It is currently a subdivision.

A delegation of the samiti representatives today met Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu in this regard at Narnaund. Dharambir Rateria, president of the samiti, claimed to have received a positive response from the minister. He said people supported the campaign and political parties, too, favoured district status to Hansi.

Chhatarpal Singh, a local BJP leader, said they would keep their demand before Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during his Hansi visit on November 12.

The Revenue Department had asked the district administration to submit the feasibility report and resolution to upgrade Hansi subdivision to district. The finance commissioner had sought a report on the land and demographic record of the proposed villages which could be included in the new district. Information regarding revenue circles, administrative blocks, police stations, urban local bodies, etc has also been sought.

Sources said the district administration had submitted the detailed report in this regard to the state government. Sub divisional status for Narnaund has also given push to the demand of district headquarters status for Hansi.

However, a number of villages in the Uklana subdivision have opposed the creation of a separate district as they want to remain in Hisar district. There is a possibility that two subdivisions could be part of Hansi district.
