Eminent folk singer and artiste Paramjit Singh Sidhu, who is popular as Pammi Bai, has been selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in folk music category for the year 2015. The announcement was made by the Akademi last evening. Rani Balbir Kaur has been selected for the same award for her overall contribution to theatre.

Pammi Bai, who hails from Jakhepal village near Sunam, has played a crucial role as a folk artiste. He has been promoting “Malwai gidha” for four decades. He is also a renowned “bhangra” performer. — TNS
