Haridwar, March 27
Appointment of new office bearers for the Pradesh Congress Committee has been done in a fair and transparent way, with it being a balancing act accommodating all sections of society. This was stated by newly appointed vice president of PCC Santosh Chauhan, who had served in the capacity of state general secretary too.
Dr Santosh Chauhan said that Chief Minister Harish Rawat has accommodated varied sections of party leaders, hailing from Garhwal-Kumaon divisions, rural and urban areas in the new committee.
Exuding confidence that the new committee members will pave way for victory of Congress in the 2017 Assembly elections in the state, Santosh Chauhan said that women leaders had been given fair representation in this committee too.
“This is a balanced act, with the responsibility given to senior, dedicated, youth, women and grassroot workers. Now, the party will surely emerge victorious in the Assembly election and these office bearers will also monitor both government and party affairs. Due representation has been given to women leaders, which augurs well for the party as women in this hill state hold the key to victory,” asserted Dr Santosh Chauhan, former Uttarakhand women’s commission chairperson.
On the Bhagwanpur Assembly election Dr Santosh remarked that Congress will surely win this byelection as people want Congress candidate to win as the development spree being carried out by CM Harish Rawat is there for all to see.
Accusing BJP-led Union government of playing a political game as far as annual budget and Ardh Kumbh budget sanctioning is concerned,Dr Chauhan said that the hill state’s Central assistance grant has been cut ,while Ardh Kumbh budget has till date not even been allocated, while just nine months are left for the holy fair to commence.
“Uttarakhand has limited revenue generation resources at its disposal. It majorly banks on Central aid but instead of raising the annual grant,BJP-led Central government has instead lowered it, just because there is Congress government in the state,” alleged Dr Chauhan.
