Soniya Solanki (30) and Anju Solanki (28), sisters belonging to the Scheduled Caste, hoisted the Tricolour at the government boys and girls schools, respectively, at Bamla village of the district on Republic Day.
Daughters of a retired government employee, Ishwar Singh, were selected for flag hoisting after they were found to be most educated girls of the village.
Soniya is a BEd and MSc in zoology and working as an analyst with a power plant in Hisar district. Anju has finished her BEd and MPhil and is currently pursuing PhD.
“We are thankful to the government for taking initiative such as ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’. Because of this, girls like us have got a chance to hoist the national flag in full public view,” said Soniya.
Pawan Kumar Ladwal, sarpanch of the village, said the sisters were an inspiration for youngsters.
Soniya donated Rs 2,100 to the school.
