Jammu, February 6
The screening committee today cleared promotion of two senior IPS officers, Additional Director Generals of Police Dr Shesh Pal Vaid and S Gopal Reddy to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP).
Highly placed official sources said the screening committee, which met today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary BR Sharma, also cleared promotion of Arun Kumar Choudhary, incumbent MD of the Police Housing Corporation as Additional Director General of Police and Uttam Chand, who is presently serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, as Deputy Inspector General ( DIG).
Dr Vaid (1986 IPS batch) is presently serving as Additional DGP, Headquarters, and S Gopal Reddy (1984 batch) is on an inter-state deputation to Telangana.
Choudhary is 1991 batch IPS officer and Uttam Chand is 2002 batch IPS officer.
Sources said the decision to promote DIGs to the rank of IGPs was deferred by the screening committee. — TNS
