The Haryana Granth Akademi organised a seminar, Hans Samvaad, to mark the 91st birthday celebrations of eminent litterateur and Haryana Rajya Kavi Uday Bhanu Hans (90) at the akademi bhavan here today. The acclaimed academician and author of Hindi and Sanskrit, Uday Bhanu Hans had settled in Hisar after retiring as a college principal. He still wields his pen despite old age-related problems.
Decorated with the Haryana Rajya Kavi honour in 1968, he won the Haryana Sahitya akademi Sur Puruskar in 2006 and the Haryana Sahitya Rattan in 2009. The akademi has already instituted an annual award in his honour.
Hailing the literary prominence of Hans, chief guest Dheera Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Relations and Languages, Haryana, said that the living legend, known as Rubais Samrat, had pioneered the Hindi rubayis.
“We are indebted to Hans for choosing Haryana for his literary activities and inspiring three generations,” the chief guest added.
