Gurukul Kangri University is the Gangotri of yoga, where high-level of yoga education is being imparted since the past 100 years.
This was stated by Professor Mahavir Aggarwal. Vice Chancellor of the Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, here today at the concluding day of the national seminar on yogic management of lifestyle disorders at Gurukul Kangri University.
Mahavir Aggarwal stated that Gurukul was the first university in the country to have a separate yoga department, which has now taught thousands of students and yoga aficionados, the art of healthy living.
Relating his connection with the Gurukul Kangri University, Mahavir Aggarwal said that he learnt the intricacies of yoga here only, which has nurtured several generations in this healthy art.
Chief guest city legislator Madan Kaushik said that discipline is imperative for achieving success and yoga teaches it with perfection.
He pointed that discipline has a deep impact on one’s life ,which affects society, too. So practicing yoga ,which inculcates the discipline trait, is of major importance.
Swami Keshwanand Yog Institute yoga guru Swami Anant Bharati said that ‘’we should first become listeners, then only we can preach or say effectively that yoga removes ailments and wrong lifestyle quite easily.’’
The seer called on for more such discussions on the lifestyle disorders as today people are getting affected with several ailments emanating from wrong lifestyle of living.
Registrar of the Gurukul Kangri University Prof Vinod Kumar in his address said that the ‘’whole world is affected by spiritualistic and materialistic aspects, of which we need to maintain a balance, and yoga helps in achieving this much needed balance in life.’’
Vice Chancellor of Gurukul Kangri University presiding over the concluding session of the national seminar, Surendra Kumar said that to make life successful, yoga is the key and it’s not that only seer or spiritually inclined person learns yoga, but common man can also learn it and avail its immense benefits.
Dr Deena Nath Rai,Dr Sadhna Devnariya,Dr K Krishna Sharma and Dr Amarjeet shared their views with the participants, who were also felicitated at the convention for their contribution in the field of yoga.
Head of the yoga department, Gurukul Kangri University, Ishwar Bharadwaj, said that more than 25 university delegates took part in the convention. Over 200 research papers were read out at the convention with 300 research papers being received by the organisers from across the country.
