About 70 senior citizens raised slogans against the management of the GMCH-32 here this morning after being informed that registrations would not be done at the counter meant for the senior citizens following breakdown in the computers. However, within a few minutes, the hospital authorities brought the situation under control and registrations were done.
Giving information, Bachchan Singh, a Hallo Majra resident, said he had been visiting the hospital for the past three months for the treatment of his eyes but has had to face a lot of inconvenience at the registration counter.
“The counter for the senior citizens is either unmanned or the staff members tells us that the computers are not working as a result of which, the waiting period at the hospital increases. This, we have been listening to for the past three months,” rued Singh.
Another patient, Gurdial Singh from Sector 21, said he had been a regular visitor at the hospital for the past two months as he was undergoing treatment for a respiratory disorder and was made to wait in the queue at the registration counter. “On inquiry, we are informed that the computer is not working. The hospital authorities have also been informed several times but to no avail,” he said.
These septuagenarian added that tired of waiting at the registration counter during every visit, the senior citizens today decided to lodge a protest. “Following the protest, the hospital staff swung into action and started registrations immediately,” informed another patient Karnail Singh.
Meanwhile, Dr Atul Sachdev, Director-Principal, GMCH-32, said he had not received any complaint in this regard. “But I will check if there is any such problem and ensure it does not happen,” he said.
