Muktsar, April 1
AAP’s legal cell in charge Himmat Singh Shergill addressed advocates here today but failed to respond to a volly of questions posed at him and left the venue midway.
After delivering a speech at the Bar Room in the district courts complex here, when Shergill invited queries from advocates, he was posed a volley of questions including the dominance of a particular group in AAP, reason behind bringing SAD and Congress leaders into the party; expulsion of Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and suspension of Harinder Khalsa and Dharamvira Gandhi; why Shergill had come all the way from Chandigarh wearing an advocate’s gown to address the gathering for a political motive here etc.
Office bearers of the District Bar Association came to the rescue of Shergill, reminding the members that a resolution was that the politicians coming to the Bar Room would not be asked questions. However, Shergill said, “Those expelled from the party will be brought back very soon and will adhere to party discipline as well.” Thereafter, he left the dais. — TNS
