Prof Gurbhajan Gill will be bestowed upon the Shiromani Punjabi Kavi Award by the Punjab Language Department at a function in Punjabi University, Patiala, tomorrow.
Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee president Jathedar Avtar Singh will be the chief guest on the occasion and Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra will preside over the function.Gurbhajan Gill is being awarded for his contribution to the enrichment of the Punjabi language and literature. Notably, Punjabi University, Patiala, has recently been awarded a three-year fellowship to Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill. The fellowship has been awarded for a project, “Kheti-Bari Lok Dhara”.
Professor Gill has worked at the PAU, Ludhiana, for more than three decades and is the former president of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana. Professor Gill was recently awarded a fellowship by the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana.
Apart from several national and international awards, Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill has 16 books-”Gulnaar”, “Sheesha”, “Jhooth Bolda Hai”, “Har Dhukhda Pind Mera Hai”, “Bol Mitti Daya Baweya”, “Agan Katha”, “Khair Panja Paaniya Di”, “Dharti Naad”, “Phullan Di Jhanjhar”, “Paardarshi”, “Mor Pankh”, “Mann Tandoor”, “Camera Di Akh Boldi”, “Surkh Samundar”, “Do Harf Raseedi”, “Mann De Boohe Baariya” and “Tareya Nal Galla Kardeya”-to his credit.
