It was free for all during the shooting of a upcoming music album of Punjabi Singer Balvir Boparai. Known for his popular song ‘De De Gera De De Gera’, Boparai, performed at Shabnam Dhaba on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla road.
Jatinder Sharma, convener for the event, said replacing the hired people with genuine listeners and audience would bring the real touch to the performance.
“Though it is a bit difficult to regulate the audience at such a place, we experimented to bring novelty to the song,” said Jatinder Sharma.
Acknowledging the response of the people, Boparai said the Punjabis across the world had wished them luck.
Boparai said the song ‘Tere Happy Birthday Te’, which was written by him and sung by Daljit Dosanjh in the movie “Disco Singh”, had set a new trend.
Showing concern over the declining standards of Punjabi singing, Boparai said NRIs and popular singers should act as reformers. “The quality can be compromised by those who sing for money. At least, the NRIs should not compromise on the quality of songs,” Balvir Boparai said.
