Jammu, November 16
Acting on directions of the High Court, the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to verify the allegation of accumulation of disproportionate assets by officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA).
An official spokesperson said, “Pursuant to the order of the High Court, the State Vigilance Organisation constituted a SIT comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, inspector Mohammad Rafi Parray and inspector Showkat Abdullah Khan to verify the allegation of accumulation of disproportionate assets by officials of LAWDA by misusing their official position.”
The team so constituted would conduct the verification under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Organisation, Kashmir, Srinagar, the spokesperson said.
Vigilance registered a case on November 13 under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act regarding connivance of LAWDA officials in raising of illegal structures in prohibited areas.
During the investigation, the record of various allegedly illegal structures was seized from the office of the vice-chairman, LAWDA, Srinagar, on November 14. — TNS
