Anandpur Sahib, March 25
Lakhs of devotees paid obeisance during the six-day Hola Mohalla festival which concluded yesterday with religious processions by the SGPC and Nihang Sikhs from various deras.
Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Mal Singh performed ‘ardas’ on the occasion while Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh in his message asked the people to shun social evils.
Panj Piaras led the procession organised by the SGPC which started from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. The procession passed through several parts of the town and culminated at the Takht in the evening.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Takht Sri Harmandir Patna Sahib Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh, Harmandar Sahib head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib head granthi Giani Sukhwinder Singh participated in the procession.
Attired in traditional battle gear, Nihangs from various sects, including Budha Dal and Taruna Dal, took out a procession from Shaheedi Bagh. Nihang Sikhs riding on horses sprinkled ‘gulal’ and displayed ‘gatka’ (Sikh martial art). Later, they displayed horse riding skills and other martial arts at Charan Ganga stadium.
