Chandigarh, September 17
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced the Sixth World Kabaddi Cup, 2015, would be held from November 15 to 28.
The schedule was decided in a high-level meeting held at Punjab Bhawan here, headed by the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Sikander Singh Maluka.
Badal, who also holds the sports portfolio, has approved the names of the proposed teams which include India, Pakistan, Argentina, USA, England, Canada, Iran, Seora Leon, Spain, Australia, Kenya and Denmark in the men's competition.
The teams in the women's category will be from India, Pakistan, the USA, New Zealand, Kenya, England, Denmark and Mexico.
It was also decided to organise the opening ceremony at Nehru Stadium, Rupnagar, whereas the Sports Stadium, Jalalabad, Fazilka, would witness the closing ceremony.
Government College Stadium, Gurdaspur; Sports Stadium, Adampur, Jalandhar; Sports Stadium, Daroli Bhai, Moga; Sports Stadium, Sarabha, Ludhiana; Sports Stadium, Chohla Sahib, Tarn Taran; Kabaddi Ground, Bholath, Kapurthala; Sports Stadium, Badal, Sri Muktsar Sahib; Sports Stadium, Atari, Amritsar; Kabaddi Stadium, Dirba, Sangrur; Sports Stadium, Barnala; and Sports Stadium, Mehraj, Bathinda, have been selected for other kabbadi matches.
Badal also reviewed other preparations regarding the tournament during the meeting.
