Ludhiana, December 9
Bijay Anand, who is playing the role of Sita’s father Raja Janak in popular serial “Siya Ke Ram” being aired on Star Plus, was in the city today.
After being a part of blockbusters like Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha and Yash, Bijay took a sabbatical from movies and ventured into teaching yoga. Bijay opened his own yoga institute in Mumbai and has been teaching yoga internationally for the past 15 years. The actor has now made his comeback into the industry with “Siya Ke Ram” as Raja Janak of Mithila.
Bijay said: “Raja Janak was the kind of role I wanted to make a comeback with. Such roles choose you to play and be the part. When Nikhil Sinha (producer on the show) approached me for the show, he told me that he actually sees a lot of Raja Janak in me. Mithila as a nation was known for its calmness and serenity. I relate to Raja Janak in more ways than one. A month into telecast and ‘Siya Ke Ram’ has been receiving a phenomenal response. We’ve known a lot about Ramayana but through ‘Siya Ke Ram’, one is getting to see the unknown and unseen version of Ramayana.”
Siya Ke Ram will now be heading for a leap of 10 years from December14, wherein the older Sita and Ram will be introduced. Sita and Ram will be seen meeting for the very first time at the Vishwamitra Aashram.
