Smart City: UT to form team to deal with hurdles

A group consisting of members from the UT Administration, the Punjab Engineering College University of Technology, and the Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) will be constituted to discuss and solve the problems related to Smart City projects. The group will meet once a week.
This was recommended during a workshop organised by the PEC University of Technology to discuss various issues related to Smart City - Chandigarh.
In his address, UT Adviser Parimal Rai, who inaugurated the workshop, said a city is called a Smart City if it is healthy, happy and happening (3Hs).
Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover emphasised on the requirements and infrastructure required for the city to turn Smart.
Prof Bharadwaj Amrutur from Indian Institute of Science gave an overview of Internet of Things for Smart City and the challenges ahead.
Commissioner of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Baldeo Purushartha presented the Smart City vision and plan for Chandigarh.
UT Home Secretary Anurag Agarwal and Finance Secretary Sarvjit Singh also spoke on the occasion. Several new technologies like automatic metering, smart grids, developing power exchange platform, waste management and green corridor were discussed at the workshop.
