Residents are appreciating the role of Ayush Tandon, son of theatre actor Hatinder Tandon, who hails from the city.
Ayush plays Nana Sahib in the new Bollwood film Bajirao Mastani.
Hatinder said he owns a home in Mumbai as well as in Ludhiana and keeps shuttling between the two cities.
He said he used to perform at Punjabi Bhawan regularly, before he started doing theatre in Mumbai. He said his son Ayush performed well in Hollywood film Life of Pi and after doing that role, he set his standards high, which is why he waited for a role like Nana Sahib in Bollywood.
“There are some new projects for him in the pipeline, but because he is to appear for Boards in Class XII, he will concentrate on studies for the time being. Diljit Dosanjh is his favourite Punjabi actor and he can also do a Punjabi movie if he is offered a good role,” he said.
Ashok Sharma, a resident of Chandigarh Road, said: “A son has realised his father’s dream by doing some good roles. He has turned out to be a talented actor.”
“Doing good roles in good films is a dream for any theatre actor and I am happy that my son is realising that dream,” he said. Speaking on telephone, Ayush said his experience of doing Bajirao Mastani was challenging as he was attempting a negative character. But still, as an actor, it was a very satisfying role, he said.
