A unique South Indian style 12-foot idol of childhood Lord Krishna and a 9-foot idol of Jagdguru Madhvacharya were unveiled at the Shri Krishna Madhvacharya temple at Sapt Sarovar here today.
The Sapt Sarovar temple has been constructed under the aegis of the Shri Krishna Madhvacharya Temple Uddupi, Karnataka. Swami Visheshwar Teerth Maharaj, spiritual head of the Shri Krishna Madhvacharya Temple, Uddupi, and Swami Vishwa Prasann Teerth Maharaj performed rituals for ‘pran pratistha’ into the idols.
Twenty-one vedic experts from South India performed the rituals in the traditional way. As a large number of pilgrims from South India arrived in Haridwar on the occasion, the temple could witness a similar rush during the year. Ashram manager Pawan M Joshi said South Indian pilgrims bound to the Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines arrive at the Madhavcaharya ashram and then head for the Char Dham pilgrimage.
The idols are made of dark green granite stone and the Lord Krishna idol depicting His childhood time is a unique one as it has been made on the lines of the idol at Shri Madhavacharya Mool Mahasansthan at Uduppi.
From Karnataka, Shri Kant Acharya, Haridas, Devi Prasad, Shankar, ashram manager Pawan M Joshi, Dinesh Giri, Manoj Verma, Ved Vyas, Shringeshwar, Sandeep, Santosh, saints and a ?large number of devotees were also present.
Swami Visheswar Teerth Maharaj has been involved in the promotion of the Vedic culture and setting up of the Madhahvacharya ashram, and temples.
