The district police today flagged off a women help van and launched a WhatsApp number for the safety and security of women.

After launching the number (9816100444), Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohit Chawla said it would be available in the public domain for uploading any information or complaint directly with them.

After receiving the complaint, it would be immediately forwarded to the police station concerned, he said.

He said the van would patrol around educational institutions, hospitals and other public places in order to prevent eve-teasing and other crimes against women.

Women staff would also be deputed in the van which would cover different places on different dates in the district, he added.
