Haryana has become a kerosene-free state as supply of kerosene under the Public Distribution System has been stopped in the districts from April 1, 2017.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said the eligible families, which had not yet taken delivery of their connections due to any reason so far, could also get the LPG connections after April 1.

Under the scheme, LPG connections were being provided by giving subsidy of Rs 1,600 to consumers included in survey list. Apart from this, these connections with financial assistance of Rs 1,600 were being released to those who are not covered in the survey list but are verified BPL or AAY ration card holders. For this, the state government had already released a sum of Rs 16 crore to oil companies for release of connections.

He said the LPG connections were being released to the eligible families under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yogana in the state, for which the Haryana government had made provision of Rs 20 crore in the current financial year. As per the report of oil companies, 2,72,949 gas connections have been released under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yogana up to March 27, 2017. As many as 94,494 gas connections have been released from the state fund, he added. — TNS
