State best destination for adventure

Himachal Pradesh has been voted the Best Indian Destination for Adventure Award for 2016 by the Lonely Planet Magazine. The award was presented by film celebrities in presence of Deepak Lamba CEO, Worldwide, and Vardhan Kondvikar, Editor, Lonely Planet Magazine, India, in Mumbai.
The award was received by senior manager, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, Anil Taneja, in the presence of film celebrities John Abraham, Rahul Khanna, Suraj Pancholi, Siddharth Malhotra, Sana Khan, Claudia and the Femina Miss India, a statement issued here said.
The award for the best international destination for adventure has been given to New Zealand.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh congratulated the tourism industry for winning this award. He said the state government was endeavouring to develop tourism infrastructure and special emphasis was being laid on providing the best facilities to facilitate the tourists. Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC), Dinesh Malhotra said Himachal was famous for many adventure activities like trekking, skiing, camping, ice skating, paragliding, angling, river rafting, mountaineering, mountain cycling, vehicle safari, etc. He said the corporation was also planning to introduce many comprehensive packages in the coming days that would include boarding, lodging, transportation and many more adventure activities from the HPTDC selected properties.
