State BJP spokesperson Vinay Goyal today released a sting video showing Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) MD SS Yadav purportedly picking cash from a table placed by a person.

Based on the video, Goyal demanded action against the MD. “We demand a probe against the MD who was shown picking money from the table. An investigation should be started to find out from whom and why the MD was taking money. It is a clear case of corruption and violation of service rules,” said Goyal at a press conference.

He said there had been charges of corruption against the MD in the past but these were set aside and he was given extension after his retirement.

Levelling allegations against the MD, Goyal said, “Yadav had broken rules by giving works amounting to Rs 70 crore to the companies owned by his relatives. These works were further enhanced to Rs 130 crore.”

He said the government had given him extension without taking cognizance of the vigilance report, which was not cleared.

This is another sting video that is bound to embarrass the Harish Rawat government which has only been giving “lip service” to eradicating corruption in the state.
