A stray dog virtually unleashed terror in the hill town yesterday by biting 24 persons.
Municipal Council president Manmohan Singh Mall said a team of council employees had been constituted to capture the dog. However, it is yet to be located.
The dog first bit persons near Jhoola Ghar and, later, it went towards the Mall Road and continued to attack commuters. The victims were taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where they were administered rabies vaccine.
The dog also bit Khajan Singh, a local resident, at Company Garden. Angry residents accused the Municipal Council of not taking action despite the Supreme Court’s order to sterilise stray dogs and monkeys in the town.
This is the first case in the town where a dog has bitten so many people in a day.
